Gay Bars and Entertainment Venues in Chiang Mai

Chang Phuak area :

The Chang Phuak area is the major gay area of Chiang Mai where all of the larger gay venues are located.  All of the places mentioned below are close together within walking distance or a short Tuk Tuk ride.

Great place for cocktails before going to see the show at Adam's Apple, or to relax afterwards. Have Adam's Boys there available as Hosts. Fully air-conditioned lounge with outdoor terrace seating as well. March 2010: Metro's new speciality is pizza! Excllent thin crust variety with choice of toppings.

Fit Bar	Santitham Plaza                                                   Click for Map Located in the Sattitham Plaza bar strip. Young Thai student crowd. Fun and loud but not much English spoken.
Spirit House	Viangbua Road                                                     Click for Map Located 200M past the Garden Bar/Adams Apple across from Viangbua Mansion. Bar and restaurant serving Western and Thai food, also sells antiques. March 2010: Spirt hous now has a revamped lanna style gareden around an acient Chedi with separate pagodas fro private out door dining
Sabbai Dee	61 Santitham Road                                                Click for Map Restaurant with bar adjacent to Santitham Guest House at junction with Tewan Road. Excellent Thai food.

Go-Go and Host Bars with shows - Chang Puak:

Huay Kaew/Nimanhemin Rd Area:

This area is the most sophisticated area of town popular with ex-pats and Thai yuppies and professionals.  The venues here are all upmarket, and classier but with higher prices.

Now under new ownership and prooving very popular with the more trendy gay crowd. Darling's speciality are the extensive range of quality independently sourced wines. These are not available in any other wine bar in Chiang Mai
SoupAsteak	26/5 Huay Kaew Road "Brand New gay owned venue opening 1 June 2010" Restaurant with bar located Opposite Shell Gas Station near Soho bar. Very nice and friendly staff. Speciality: home made Soup and excellent steaks.

Night Bazzar Area : Click for Map

The Night Bazzar area is Chiang Mai's main tourist location. A few years ago it was the centre of the Chiang Mai gay scene but times have changed and the best of the entertainment is now to be found in the Chang Puek/Santitham areas. The few remaining venues are small tourist bars.

Thapae soi 1: Opposite entrance to D2 Hotel, a row of small beer bars adjacent to the "Foxy lady" bar. Chiang Mai's notorious sleaze alley; more commercial than the Peak Bars with many freelancers (Mainly straight Akha and Lisu hilltribe guys - check for ID).

Thapae soi 1: around the now defunct Peak Climbing wall (destroyed by a fire on 1 Jan 2008) was a popular group of small open air beer bars, The Peak is being re-developed and all of the remaining bars have closed down in November 2009.
